How to spot the next Facebook ad

The Latest on the Facebook ad campaign by its former owners article Posted July 12, 2018 09:03:54A major advertising campaign by the social network’s former owners is underway, and the results could have a major impact on how users see ads on the site.

Advertisers have been targeting Facebook users who are younger than 18 years old with ads since the beginning of the year.

The ads, which often feature a woman talking to a man, have been seen by nearly 200 million people, according to a study released Tuesday by research firm Aite Group.

Facebook, which has been under heavy fire for its aggressive advertising practices, has not said how many of its advertisers have paid for ads to appear on its platform, which is used by nearly a billion people daily.

However, Aite estimates that roughly $1.5 billion has been spent by advertisers on ads that target those under 18 years of age.

Facebook’s parent company Alphabet Inc. did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The company’s ad targeting efforts have been the subject of a number of lawsuits filed by users who claim they were misled by the ads, with the company defending itself in some of the cases.

The Justice Department, which filed a class-action lawsuit last month against Facebook, has accused the social networking company of misleading consumers about how the ads work.

Aite, which recently released a report on Facebook’s ad spending, estimates that more than $1 billion in Facebook advertising has been directed at 18-to-24-year-old users, according a company spokesperson.

A Facebook spokesperson said the company does not comment on specific cases.
