Zambian man shot dead after robbery, police say

ZAMBIA — A Zambia man was shot dead Thursday in a robbery that police say may have started as a robbery attempt but turned violent.

Police say the robbery took place at a convenience store in Nyanza.

They say the man was wounded and was taken to a hospital.

He died from his injuries.

The man was not identified.

Police are investigating the robbery and are asking the public to call if you recognize the man.

Police said in a news release that police responded to a report of a robbery at about 10:40 a.m. in the area of Nyanja Avenue and St. Nicholas Street.

When officers arrived, they said they heard gunshots and found the man shot.

The man was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
